A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PERPLEXITY AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE) APPLICATION IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION

The use of technology, especially AI (Artificial Intelligence), is becoming increasingly prevalent in the world of education. This includes Perplexity AI (Artificial Intelligence) as a technological tool in the Islamic Education learning process in the digital era. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the application of Perplexity AI (Artificial Intelligence) plays a role in improving the learning process of Islamic Education, based on theological, legal, and theoretical foundations. This research is a literature review using a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection procedure used was documentation with data analysis techniques through four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results reveal the conceptualization of Islamic Education, including the definition, objectives, scope, function, foundation, methods, and learning media of Islamic Education. Furthermore, the conceptualization of Perplexity AI (Artificial Intelligence) encompasses its meaning, objectives, functions, characteristics, weaknesses, strengths, steps for installation, use, and access, and the impact of its implementation in the Islamic Education learning process. The implications of this research are to contribute to the challenges of academic integrity and minimize the negative impacts of Perplexity AI (Artificial Intelligence) use that reduce students' critical and creative thinking.
