Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the linguistic errors in descriptive composition writing
made by students of the Department of Arabic Language Education at the State Islamic
University Prof. K.H. Saifuddin Zuhri Purwokerto and the State Islamic University of
Salatiga. This study employed a qualitative approach with a field research design using a
case study. The researchers used observation and documentation techniques to collect the
data, which were then analyzed through the following stages:(1) data collection, (2) data
reduction, (3) data display, and (4) conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that
the linguistic errors in descriptive composition writing produced by the students of the
Department of Arabic Language Education at the State Islamic University Prof. K.H.
Saifuddin Zuhri Purwokerto and the State Islamic University of Salatiga take various forms,
including grammatical errors, morphological errors, spelling errors, errors in writing
conventions, errors in word choice, semantic errors, errors in the use of prepositions, errors
in sentence linking, and contextual errors. The researchers hope that the findings of this
study will be beneficial for those who read them and use them as a basis in the educational
process, especially in the teaching of writing skills
