Vocabulary proficiency is a fundamental element of Arabic language learning at the
preparatory level, particularly in institutions that have begun using digital media as an
educational tool. Recent research confirms that audio-visual media contribute to increased
student engagement and help them understand and apply vocabulary in natural contexts.
Based on this importance, this study aimed to evaluate the contribution of the interactive
Edpuzzle tool—in conjunction with a problem-based learning model—to improving the
vocabulary skills of third-grade students at Darussalam Gontor Institute. This study
employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using an asymmetric
control group. Each group consisted of 60 students selected using purposive sampling,
divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected
through interviews, observations, and pre- and post-tests, and then analyzed using SPSS
software to determine changes in learning outcomes after the program's implementation.
The results showed that traditional learning in the control group resulted in only a slight
improvement. In contrast, the experimental group demonstrated a significant improvement
in vocabulary skills, reflected in near-perfect average scores on the post-test and a lower
level of variance in results. Further analysis using the Mann-Whitney U test confirmed a statistically significant difference between the two groups, with the experimental group
clearly outperforming the experimental group. Overall, this study confirms that the
EdPuzzle platform is an effective audiovisual tool for enhancing vocabulary acquisition
and promoting a more independent, interactive, and enjoyable learning process.
