The low turats literacy and the dominance of memorization methods in Arabic language learning in
islamic boarding schools often neglect the aspects of meaning and character value internalization.
This research aims to develop a turats literacy model integrated with the philosophy of Adat Basandi
Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah (ABS-SBK) through the Love-Based Curriculum approach. This
study uses the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design,
Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects consist of 56 Madrasah
Tsanawiyah level santri divided into experimental and control classes. Data collection instruments
include interviews, expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and learning outcome tests.
Expert validation results show that the developed model is very valid with an average score of 92%.
Field trials show a high level of practicality, namely 84% in the small group test and increasing to
89.75% in the large group test. The effectiveness test results using the Independent Samples T-Test
show a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.012 (< 0.05) with a mean difference of 5.50 points higher in
the experimental class. These findings prove that the turats literacy model based on Minangkabau
local values and a humanistic approach is effective in improving cognitive learning outcomes while
simultaneously overcoming santri anxiety. This research recommends the integration of cultural
values and humanistic approaches as an alternative strategy in the modernization of kitab kuning
learning in islamic boarding schools.
