Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of game-based learning (GBL) in rhetoric education at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) and analyze its impact. Using a qualitative descriptive approach based on interviews and literature review, this research views GBL as a serious game that focuses on enhancing text analysis in rhetoric and poetics. The application of the game-based learning strategy, especially through digital quiz games such as Kahoot!, is systematically organized in a cycle that includes planning, implementation, and post-game reflection (debriefing) that requires theoretical justification. The main results indicate that the game-based learning strategy succeeded in increasing students' motivation, participation, and ability to think quickly in applying abstract rhetorical rules. Students reported a significant change from traditional teaching to an exciting and effective experience. Despite limitations due to limited digital facilities, the game-based learning strategy proved to be effective in promoting conceptual understanding and collaboration in the classroom. This research concludes that the game-based learning strategy is an innovative and transformative strategy for achieving academic efficiency in the study of rhetoric.
